The Tent

Last night, before bed, Sammy was watching the show Caillou. In the episode, Caillou and his friend had a camp-out in his room. They made a tent and slept inside. When the episode was done, I told Sammy it was bedtime. He insisted that he sleep in a tent as well. I was not willing to make a tent out of blankets that close to bedtime but I remembered that we have a small Lighting McQueen tent in garage. I brought it into his room, set it up, and put his pillow and blanket inside. He was ecstatic.

Side note: When Sam was about a year old, he started having night terrors. They were awful and he was inconsolable. We put a T.V. in his room to calm him down before bed and distract him from the things that were scaring him. His night terrors have now stopped completely. Therefore, I have a goal to get the T.V. out of his room by next month.

He slept the whole night in his tent, without the T.V. on ... success!!! He took his nap today in his tent with no T.V. and just went to bed again tonight in his tent without the T.V. on.

This, unintentionally, may be the way we wean him for his T.V. dependence to fall asleep. Now the problem will be actually getting to him to sleep in his bed again :)

They make tents that fit over beds - Taylor had one for a while. The bottom corners are like fitted sheet corners so it holds to the mattress :) It's how we got Taylor to sleep in her top bunk.
